FCASV Launches 'Rape. Talk about it. Prevent it.' Campaign

FCASV executive director, Jennifer Dritt, joined with Michael Borrello, Men Advocating for Responsible Conduct (MARC), Florida State University, Corinne M. Graffunder, DrPH, MPH, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Ana M. Viamonte Ros, M.D., M.P.H., State Surgeon General, Florida Department of Health for a press conference on September 2, 2009 to inform the public about the primary prevention of sexual violence and highlight the Department of Health’s statewide billboard campaign. At the press conference, Ms. Dritt said,

"The Florida Council Against Sexual Violence serves as a resource to the state regarding sexual violence issues.  We envision a world free of sexual violence in which men and women together assure that all human beings are treated with dignity and respect for their physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual integrity.

We are equally as passionate about ending violence before there is a victim or a perpetrator as our partners here at the Department of Health.  By joining together with other people who work to end sexual violence, we have a powerful impact and create a message for change."

For more information on the campaign, visit the Department of Health Sexual Violence Prevention Program website.

The billboards are making parents aware of the need to talk to their children about sexual violence. FCASV has put together a fact sheet for parents entitled, "Talking to your Kids About Sexual Assault"
