Professionals
The Florida Council Against Sexual Violence serves as a resource to the state on sexual violence issues. We host a statewide conference and many trainings, bringing state-of-the-art information to Florida's service providers. We provide technical assistance to agencies seeking to improve their services for rape victims, and we provide up-to-date information to the public through our information line on all aspects of sexual violence, including rape, child sexual abuse, stalking and sexual harassment. Our members are comprised of professionals and programs across the state that help rape victims in local communities.
Our current professional projects:
- Advocacy Core Training CD: Certified rape crisis centers in Florida will soon be receive an Advocacy Core Training CD. FCASV developed the ACT CD as a cost-effective, user-friendly alternative to onsite training.
- Implementing SB 1312 - Sexual Battery Victims Rights & Services: Governor Crist signed SB 1312, FCASV's top priority bill during the 2009 session, into law during a signing ceremony on June 16th.
- Leadership Summit 2009: More than 50 attendees participated in FCASV’s first annual Rape Crisis Program Leadership Summit on June 16th in Orlando.
- Upcoming SANE Trainings: The training is geared toward medical professionals: ARNPs, RNs, and physicians.
- Teen Dating Violence Project: FCASV is currently serving on the advisory board of a project directed by FCADV to assist Florida’s domestic violence advocates, sexual violence and rape crisis advocates, and runaway and homeless youth service providers with the issue of teen dating violence.
- Elder Sexual Abuse Law Enforcement Training Curriculum: Elder victims of sexual assault are often “hidden” in our society. The sexual assault of older individuals often goes undetected and most often comes to light when another crime is being investigated.
