Referrals for Unintended Pregnancy Training -- Sarasota

The Community Foundation of Florida (Hamme Conference Room), 2635 Fruitville Road, Sarasota, FL 34237

Thursday, December 6, 2018, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Health and social service providers – physicians, nurses, counselors, DV/SA advocates, case managers, social workers – often serve as a critical link to helping women obtain quality, compassionate care for a range of health care needs, including reproductive healthcare. These same individuals are both willing and able to play an essential role in pregnancy options counseling and access to prenatal care, abortion, or adoption resources, but they often don’t have the tools or support to assist women facing unintended pregnancy.

Given this gap, Provide, Inc. trains providers to offer non-judgmental all-options counseling and referrals to their clients. Provide’s training team offers on-going follow-up support to integrate this training into work with your clients, as well as regularly updated resource lists so that providers always have the information needed to make effective referrals.

Training Objectives

  • Learn a simple model for effective referral-making
  • Identify referral behaviors that respect clients’ confidentiality and right to make their own decisions
  • Understand general barriers for women accessing reproductive healthcare
  • Education and offer toolkit of information for providers working with clients who are experiencing unintended pregnancy

How Much Will It Cost to Attend a Training?

All trainings are FREE. Participants will receive training materials and lunch at no cost (meat and vegetarian options will be available). Additionally, Provide does not charge fees for technical assistance.
