Description:
Survivors need more pathways to access justice and services. In an effort to reduce these barriers, End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI) created Seek Then Speak, a free online platform that gives survivors information about their options and offers them a new way to begin reporting to law enforcement if or when they choose. In this presentation, EVAWI’s Dr. Kim Lonsway will demonstrate how Seek Then Speak works and describe how it can be integrated into sexual assault response processes in local communities, with case examples from across the country.
Learning Objectives:
Describe Seek Then Speak, an interactive online tool helping sexual assault survivors gather information and complete a self-guided investigative interview.
Identify the motivations for law enforcement, victim advocacy, and other governmental agencies to adopt this new tool for use in the community.
Explain how sexual assault survivors can use the new tool to begin the process of reporting to law enforcement by completing a self-guided interview.
Consider how this new tool could increase access to reporting and supportive services for survivors in your community.
